Civic Innovation and the angry people of TRUMPLAND

Today we are living the reality that decades of government alienation from people have created. We can see how little trust exist at the state or federal level, and angry people that have witnessed the decay of their way of living is willing to set the system on fire - no matter the subsequent consequences; they just want to send a strong message to the system.

On the other hand there is a growing group of people that is able to identify opportunities in the short comes of the government. This group is transforming the frustration into their driving force to participate and help solve some of the most urgent problems. The government is only happy about this, now there is a group of organized people willing to spend their time solving things that the government does not know how to approach - and most of the time they do it for free! And they can still cash their checks every month! Hallelujah!

But everything comes with price… transparency. This new wave of civic activism is willing to help but they need access to the system and the information inside the system. Governments that want to benefit from this movement need to agree to openness and transparency. But what if people realize they do not need the political class anymore? What if the true government of people come from this civic engagement? Like the one described by Patrick Geddes.

We need some time to see what is the outcome of a decade of civic entrepreneurs, but the question is: will those ready to destroy the system would wait before throwing their grenade this November 8?

From all this, it is clear that people that live in a democratic country need to stop thinking that one single person can fix everything. No more messiahs, people need to participate, to engage and recognize that helping others is helping themselves, in the long run.

If you are thinking in voting for a 3rd party or you are not sure about Hillary, I recommend you watch the new Michael Moore’s movie TRUMPLAND. He was able to do something that the campaign team of Hillary has not been able to do.
